Additional information

Marksburg, the Rhineland castle above Braubach, is the only medieval hilltop castle on the Middle Rhine never destroyed — surviving intact through wars, sieges, and the systematic dismantling that claimed most of its neighbors. The German Castles Association has administered it since 1900 and still holds its headquarters there.
