The Madonna di Foligno is a Raphael altarpiece painted around 1511–1512, originally commissioned by Sigismondo de' Conti as a votive offering after a meteorite — or possibly a cannonball — reportedly struck his house in Foligno without killing anyone. The painting passed through several hands before Napoleon's forces removed it from Italy in 1797; it entered the Louvre before being returned to the Vatican in 1816, where it remains in the Pinacoteca.
