| Reverse description | The reverse presents a finely engraved scene depicting Saint Ludmila of Bohemia as a grandmother instructing the young Prince Wenceslas, the future Saint Václav. The figure of Ludmila is shown wearing a veil and ecclesiastical robes adorned with a cross, holding an open book as she gazes down at the kneeling child who looks up toward her with reverence. The scene is set beneath a Romanesque arch supported by a column, rendered with deep sculptural relief against a polished mirror field. To the left of the figural composition, the Czech-language inscription 'SVATÁ LUDMILA / BABIČKA / SVATÉHO VÁCLAVA' is arranged in two groups. The engraver's initials appear in the lower left area of the design. |
