| Obverse description | The diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II faces right, engraved after the fourth portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley, with the engraver's initials IRB visible below the truncation. To the upper left and right of the field, the legend reads ELIZABETH II and COOK ISLANDS in raised capitals along the rim. Dominating the centre of the obverse is a large circular inset reproducing, in full colour, the celebrated rose window of the Basilica of Our Lady of Lourdes, depicting the Apparition of the Virgin Mary above the kneeling figure of Saint Bernadette and accompanying figures, rendered with vivid polychrome enamel detail. To the right of the central window, a relief effigy of the Virgin of Lourdes stands on a rocky plinth. The denomination 10 DOLLARS appears in raised letters along the lower rim. |
