Additional information

This piece belongs to Fiji's early 2000s "Currencies of the World" collector series, which reproduced historic and contemporary foreign coin designs on Fijian legal tender silver rounds. The Irish punt itself had just ceased to exist — Ireland adopted the euro on 1 January 2002, making the punt obsolete within months of this coin's issue date. The timing was deliberate; the series capitalized on the wave of European currency retirements triggered by eurozone adoption.
