| 正面描述 | The obverse features the coat of arms of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas centered in the field, depicting a quartered shield bearing a sailing ship on a wavy sea above, supported by a marlin dexter and a flamingo sinister, with a crest of a conch shell surmounted by two tropical fish above a mantling of palm fronds. A scroll beneath the shield bears the national motto in three parts: FORWARD, UPWARD, ONWARD and TOGETHER. The circumferential legend COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS arcs along the upper border, with the date 1975 inscribed in the lower field. The entire design is enclosed by a beaded inner border. |

The Bahamas gained independence from Britain on July 10, 1973, and the Central Bank wasted little time commissioning a commemorative proof program to mark the transition. These struck across 1975–1977 reflect a period when the new government was actively building its international financial identity — the Bahamas had just established its central bank in 1974, a year after independence, making this series among the institution's earliest sovereign issues.
Mintages for individual years in this series were tightly controlled, and year-on-year figures vary considerably — collectors assembling a complete date run will find 1977 the most resistant.
