| Reverse description | Enthroned frontal effigy of King Henry III of England, adapted from the design of his historic medieval penny, depicting the crowned king seated in majesty holding an orb in his left hand and a sceptre in his right, set within an oval cartouche at the centre of the rectangular field. Decorative bead borders flank the central motif on either side. The legend TRIBUTE EDITION arches across the top of the field in bold lettering, followed by BRITISH COIN HISTORY 2022 immediately below, while the specifications 1/2 G .9999 FINEST GOLD appear along the bottom edge. |

| Additional information |
Henry III's reign saw England's first gold coinage since the Anglo-Saxon period — the gold penny of 1257, struck at roughly 45 grains and valued at 20 silver pennies. It failed almost immediately, the public refusing it because the exchange rate bore no relation to the metal's actual market value, and the issue was abandoned within two years.
