Additional information

Fiji issued this piece to mark the 50th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1997, one of dozens of Commonwealth nations that produced commemorative coinage for the occasion. The Golden Wedding series generated a flood of issues across the Pacific and Caribbean realms that year, many sharing dies or blanks across mints.

The Pobjoy Mint struck most of Fiji's commemorative silver output during this period under contract arrangements typical of smaller Commonwealth territories.
