Nauru issued a series of silver dollars in the early 2000s timed to coincide with the euro changeover, selling them primarily to European collector markets rather than circulating them domestically. This piece belongs to that run, commemorating Germany's adoption of the euro on January 1, 2002 — the same date physical euro coins and notes entered circulation across twelve member states simultaneously.
