Gallimimus bullatus, the ornithomimid theropod this coin commemorates, was largely obscure to the general public until its 1993 appearance in Jurassic Park — the stampede sequence was among the first uses of fully computer-generated animals in a major film. The Solomon Islands has no paleontological connection to the species whatsoever; the issuance is pure numismatic commerce, produced for the collector bullion market rather than any domestic monetary purpose.
