Beschrijving keerzijde A naturalistically rendered Gallimimus dinosaur is depicted in full-body profile, striding toward the left across a stylised prehistoric landscape with low ground shadows. Stylised conifer foliage fills the background in low relief on either side of the figure. In the upper right field, a circular medallion bearing a three-toed dinosaur footprint is surrounded by concentric ring motifs, with the inscription 'GALLIMIMUS' on a banner immediately below it. The weight and fineness designation '0.5g Au.999' appears in the lower left field.

Aanvullende informatie

Gallimimus bullatus, the ornithomimid theropod this coin commemorates, was largely obscure to the general public until its 1993 appearance in Jurassic Park — the stampede sequence was among the first uses of fully computer-generated animals in a major film. The Solomon Islands has no paleontological connection to the species whatsoever; the issuance is pure numismatic commerce, produced for the collector bullion market rather than any domestic monetary purpose.
