The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issues currency on behalf of eight territories — Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Anguilla — a monetary union that has held the EC dollar fixed at 2.70 to the US dollar since 1976. Collector gold of this type is produced outside the region under license and never circulates domestically.
The frigatebird appears on the standard EC dollar banknotes as well, making its appearance here a deliberate continuity with the paper currency series.
