Beschrijving voorzijde Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted wearing a tiara and pearl earring, rendered in high relief against a richly ornamented field of acanthus scrollwork. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim and NIUE ISLAND along the upper right, both in raised capital letters. The denomination 10 DOLLARS appears in large characters along the lower field, with the date 2017 below. The engraver's initials IRB appear beneath the portrait truncation, and the Czech Mint mark is visible at the bottom of the coin.

Aanvullende informatie

Niue's arrangement with the New Zealand Mint has made it one of the Pacific's most prolific issuing authorities for legal-tender bullion and collector coinage — a quirk of the 1974 Niue Constitution Act, which granted the island self-governance under free association with New Zealand while preserving its right to issue its own currency. The island's GDP has, at various points, been meaningfully supplemented by numismatic revenue rather than any export commodity.

The .9999 fineness places this issue among the purest gold fractions of its period, matching the standard adopted by the Royal Canadian Mint for Maple Leafs in 1982 and since chased by most competitive bullion programs.
