The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issues currency on behalf of eight member states — Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Anguilla, and Montserrat — all sharing a single currency union that has been fixed to the US dollar at 2.70 EC dollars since 1976. Collector gold issues of this type are struck primarily for the numismatic export market, generating hard currency revenue rather than circulating domestically.
The colorization is applied after striking, a process that has divided collector opinion sharply since its mainstream adoption in the early 2000s.
