Issued to mark the 60th wedding anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 2007, this coin was struck the same year Philip became the longest-serving consort in British royal history. Fiji maintained the Queen as head of state following its complicated post-coup constitutional arrangements, making this a product of a particularly fraught moment in Fijian sovereignty — the military government of Frank Bainimarama had seized power just months prior, in December 2006.
