| 背面描述 | Large right-facing bust of Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor, depicted wearing an elaborate feathered headdress with ornate Mesoamerican decorative elements, ear ornaments, and traditional regalia, rendered in high relief against a textured field evoking the design of the classic Mexican gold coin. In the upper field, the legends 'TRIBUTE EDITION' and 'MEXICAN COIN HISTORY 2021' appear in two lines. A small circular cartouche to the right of the bust reads '100th Anniv.' The lower legend reads '1/2 G .9999 FINEST GOLD'. |

Cuauhtémoc, the last Aztec emperor, was captured by Hernán Cortés in August 1521 while attempting to flee Tenochtitlan by canoe. Cortés had him tortured — feet burned over open flame — in an attempt to locate hidden Aztec treasure. He was hanged in 1525 on Cortés's orders during the Honduras expedition, on charges of conspiracy that most historians regard as fabricated.
Solomon Islands has issued dozens of fractional gold pieces under this format, with Cuauhtémoc joining a rotating series of historical figures essentially chosen for global collector appeal rather than any regional connection.
