| Obverse description | Right-facing crowned and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II set within a circular beaded border at center of the square flan. The legend ELIZABETH II runs along the left arc and NIUE along the upper arc, with 10 DOLLARS inscribed vertically on the right side of the border. The date 2014 appears in the lower field beneath the portrait. The portrait is rendered in fine relief against a frosted square field, characteristic of the Ian Rank-Broadley style. |

One of fourteen pieces in a series commemorating Gothic cathedrals, this Niuean issue was struck the same year a major restoration campaign at Notre-Dame de Paris was quietly underway — five years before the April 2019 fire that destroyed the spire and much of the roof. Coins from this series acquired a retrospective significance they were never designed to carry.
