The Eastern Caribbean Central Bank issues coinage on behalf of eight member territories — Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, and Anguilla — none of which operate independent central banks. Collector issues of this kind fund the ECCB directly rather than circulating within the currency union, which runs the Eastern Caribbean dollar pegged at 2.7 to the US dollar since 1976.
The Caribbean reef octopus, *Octopus briareus*, is native to the shallow coral waters throughout the issuing territories' coastlines.
