| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the portrait by Susanna Blunt, depicted with a pearl necklace and earring, her hair arranged in a characteristic upswept coiffure. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim and D•G•REGINA along the upper right rim, both in raised Latin characters. The initials SB appear discretely at the base of the truncation, attributing the portrait to its engraver. The effigy is rendered in high relief against a mirror-polished field, characteristic of proof-quality Canadian coinage of this period. |
