Each segment is richly decorated with figurative scenes and allegorical figures rendered in warm earth tones of ochre, sienna, and muted green, arranged radially around the central circular aperture which corresponds to the oculus of the dome. Decorative architectural moldings frame each painted bay, closely replicating the Renaissance frescoes attributed to Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari.
