The B Series revision in 1996 adjusted the colour register across the Cayman Islands dollar range without replacing the underlying intaglio design — Thomas De La Rue had produced the original B Series plates, and the revised colouring was applied through the same printing house rather than a redesign tender. The Cayman Islands Currency Board, established under the 1971 Currency Law, has always contracted printing to De La Rue, giving the entire dollar series a consistent technical pedigree across decades.
P#18 is the revised-colouring variant; the earlier B Series 10 dollar is catalogued separately under P#8. The distinction matters because the two are frequently conflated in collections.
