Obverse description The fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, faces right wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend encircling the portrait reads ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 2017 10 DOLLARS, with the engraver's initials IRB appearing below the truncation of the bust. Reverse description A proud rooster stands in full profile facing left at the centre of the design, set against a stylised rising sun rendered in fine relief. Decorative Chinese-inspired ornamental motifs frame the four corners of the inner border, enhancing the Lunar theme. The Chinese character 鷄 (Rooster) appears prominently to the right of the central device. The legend YEAR OF THE ROOSTER is inscribed in the lower exergue, and the date 2017 appears in the upper field above the rooster.
