Reverse description A finely detailed relief scene depicting two members of the New Zealand Tunnelling Company at work within the Arras tunnel system during World War I. The foreground figure crouches and drives a tool horizontally into the rock face, while a second soldier toils in the middle ground wielding a pickaxe against the tunnel wall. The inscription No 5 EXIT is engraved on the rock face in the upper centre of the field, identifying the specific tunnel exit. The curved legend TEN DOLLARS · WWI 1916 COURAGE & COMMITMENT arcs around the right periphery against a dark contrasting background, with the denomination at upper left.
