| Beschrijving keerzijde | The reverse features a gold (.999)-plated central insert reproducing the reverse design of the historic 1852 Adelaide Pound, depicting a crowned royal crown within a beaded inner circle, with the inscription GOVERNMENT ASSAY OFFICE and the date 1852 in the field, and ADELAIDE at the base. The surrounding silver outer ring bears the raised legends '1852 ADELAIDE POUND 2002' at the top and 'TEN DOLLARS' at the bottom, all within an ornate decorative border of scrollwork and beading. The contrast between the polished silver field and the gilt central coin creates a striking bimetallic visual effect. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
The Adelaide Pound of 1852 was struck under emergency conditions by the privately-operated Adelaide Assay Office, established because gold from the Victorian rushes was flooding South Australia faster than the colonial government could manage it. Britain never formally sanctioned the issue, and the Colonial Office demanded it cease — making the original one of the few coins in Australian history minted in open defiance of imperial authority. This 2002 commemorative reproduces that design in bimetallic gilt format, the gold-plated silver centre echoing the original's alloy controversy in a quietly apt way.
