The Bahamas gained full independence in July 1973, and this note is among the first issues of the newly established Central Bank, which replaced the Bahamas Monetary Authority. De La Rue printed the entire inaugural Central Bank series, a logical continuation given their prior work for the Authority — the transition in issuing body was politically significant, but the print contract barely missed a beat.
T. B. Donaldson served as Governor of the Central Bank from its founding; W. C. Allen signed as Finance Minister. The pairing places this note squarely in the bank's earliest operational period, before the signature combinations shifted with subsequent administrations.
