Pobjoy Mint struck this piece on behalf of a client territory to mark the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001. Pobjoy has long operated as a contract mint producing commemoratives for smaller issuing authorities — many of which have no meaningful connection to the events being commemorated — and this issue fits squarely within that commercial model.
The .925 silver specification and 28.28g weight place it in the same production run parameters Pobjoy used for dozens of concurrent commemorative issues from this period.
