| Additional information |
This piece belongs to a broad series of miniature gold restrikes reproducing historic European coinage, issued by numerous Pacific and Caribbean sovereigns as bullion collectibles. The prototype — the 100 ducat of Sigismund III Vasa — was originally struck in Kraków and Bydgoszcz in the early seventeenth century as a prestige presentation piece, never intended for commerce. Such multiples were minted in tiny quantities and gifted to foreign dignitaries and magnates; surviving originals routinely appear at auction with six-figure estimates.
Solomon Islands has no historical connection to Polish coinage whatsoever. The legal tender face value is purely nominal.
