| Beschrijving keerzijde | Three highly detailed sugar maple leaves (Acer saccharum) displayed in a naturalistic cluster at the center of the coin, with the central leaf dominant and two flanking leaves overlapping it at the sides. The leaves are rendered with exceptional vein and lobe detail, set within a raised inner circle. The fineness designations '9999' appear in the left and right fields flanking the inner circle. The legends 'FINE SILVER' and 'ARGENT PUR' are inscribed below the central leaf within the inner circle, and the engraver's initials 'LM' appear at lower right within the design. The legend 'CANADA' arcs across the top of the outer border, while '10 DOLLARS 2012' is inscribed along the lower periphery. |

The half-ounce Maple Leaf silver bullion series occupies an odd position in the RCM's lineup — introduced largely to give buyers a lower entry-point than the full ounce, it never achieved the same secondary-market liquidity as its larger sibling. By 2012, the RCM had also introduced radial line backgrounds as an anti-counterfeiting measure across the Maple Leaf series, a direct response to the proliferation of Chinese-produced fakes that had been flooding North American bullion markets in the preceding years.
