Obverse description Central field features the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Liberia, depicting a shield bearing a sailing ship, a plow, and a shovel above the sea, with a palm tree to the right and a rising sun in the background, all within a decorative frame. A flying dove appears above the shield. The national motto legend 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE' arcs along the upper periphery on a ribbon, while 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' appears on a scroll below the shield. The denomination '10 DOLLARS' and the date '2005' are inscribed in the lower field beneath the arms. The entire design is struck on an oval flan with a proof-quality mirrored field.

Reverse description The reverse depicts a detailed representation of the exterior roofline and dome of St. Peter's Basilica in Vatican City, with the gilded dome rendered in applied gold gilding. The facade of the Sistine Chapel is shown in the foreground, inlaid with sparkling Swarovski crystals to simulate the famous interior decoration. The composition evokes the announcement of a new pope from the balcony of St. Peter's. The legend 'HABEMUS PAPAM' arcs along the upper portion of the design, commemorating the election of Pope Benedict XVI. The date of his election, '19-04-2005', is inscribed in the lower field.
