| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship at sea before a rising sun, with a palm tree on the shore and a plow and spade in the foreground, all within a decorative escutcheon surmounted by a scroll. The motto legend THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE encircles the arms in a secondary inner ring, while the outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper periphery and is repeated on a scroll below the shield. The date 2004 is divided either side of the central design in the lower field. The entire composition is set against a dark mirror-like proof field with a reeded border. |
