Obverse description The full arms of Jamaica occupy the central field, featuring a quartered shield charged with five pineapples on each quarter, supported on the dexter by a female Taino figure holding a basket of fruit and on the sinister by a male Taino figure bearing a spear and feathered headdress. A crocodile passant surmounts the helm and mantling as crest. A scroll below bears the national motto OUT OF MANY, ONE PEOPLE. The legend JAMAICA arcs along the upper periphery, while TEN DOLLARS and the date 1989 are inscribed along the lower field.
