Obverse description The obverse features the national coat of arms of Kiribati centrally positioned in the field, depicting a frigate bird in flight above a rising sun over ocean waves, all contained within a heraldic shield. Beneath the shield, a decorative scroll ribbon bears the national motto in Gilbertese: TE MAURI TE RAOI AO TE TABOMOA, meaning 'Health, Peace and Prosperity'. The country name KIRIBATI and the date 2006 are inscribed in large characters along the lower rim.

Reverse description The reverse displays a finely detailed classical figure of a winged angel in full stride, rendered in high relief against a mirror-like proof field, with large outstretched wings and flowing robes, one arm raised upward and the other extended outward. The circular legend CHRISTMAS ISLAND runs along the left portion of the outer border, while KIRITIMATI * KIRIBATI appears along the right portion, separated by a five-pointed star.
