Obverse description The obverse presents a highly sculptural, ultra-high-relief rendering of the rear view of a female Chinese guardian lion (Shi), depicted seated upon an ornately decorated plinth bearing traditional Chinese geometric fretwork and coin motifs. The lion's elaborately curled mane, rendered in meticulous detail, dominates the upper field, while the spine and haunches are modelled with exceptional three-dimensionality. To the left, an inset circular cartouche bears the Republic of Palau coat of arms surrounded by the legend REPUBLIC OF PALAU, with the inscriptions RAINBOW'S END and 10 Dollars beneath. The curved legends CHINESE GUARDIAN LIONS arc across the upper field and 2017 descends along the right border, all in raised Latin lettering.

Reverse description The reverse features an exceptionally detailed, high-relief depiction of a female Chinese guardian lion (Shi) shown in three-quarter frontal view, seated majestically upon a decorated rectangular pedestal adorned with traditional Chinese coin and fretwork patterns. The lioness wears an ornate beaded collar with a central pendant and rests her right forepaw upon a cub, symbolising her feminine attribute. The richly textured mane cascades around her powerful face. The background field is rendered in lower relief with an architectural panorama of classical Chinese palatial buildings, evoking the Forbidden City, framed by a traditional meander border encircling the upper rim of the coin.
