Issued as part of a wave of fractional gold pieces targeting the collector bullion market, this coin derives its subject from Victoria Peak — the highest point in the Solomon Islands at 1,450 meters, located on Guadalcanal, the same island where some of the Pacific War's most brutal fighting occurred between 1942 and 1943.
