Cook Islands has become one of the more prolific issuers of novelty bullion in the commemorative market, and this piece belongs squarely to that output — a two-troy-ounce silver round dressed in legal tender clothing. The "Vexed Man" is a terracotta sculpture housed in Berlin's Antikensammlung, dated to around the 3rd century BC and attributed to the Alexandrian coroplastic tradition. Its modern fame owes largely to its uncanny emotional expressiveness, which made it a natural subject for novelty minting once licensing arrangements with the museum became viable.
The Cook Islands face value is nominal; no one spends these.
