Kennedy standing centrally in a navy blue suit, accompanied by his wife Jacqueline Kennedy in a white dress to his left, and their two children — John F. Kennedy Jr. and Caroline Kennedy — standing in the foreground. The family is posed before an arched doorway framed by lush green ivy-covered walls and topiary shrubs, rendered in vivid polychrome enamel color. Aanvullende informatie

Cook Islands has operated as a prolific commemorative issuer since the 1970s, with its licensing arrangements allowing foreign mints — primarily the Pobjoy Mint and later B.H. Mayer's — to produce collector pieces under Cook Islands authority for international sale. The coins have no meaningful circulation history on the islands themselves.

Kennedy's assassination on November 22, 1963 triggered one of the fastest coinage responses in U.S. history: Congress authorized the Kennedy half dollar within weeks, and it reached circulation by spring 1964.
