Beschrijving keerzijde A highly detailed high-relief view of the front facade of the Jefferson Memorial is rendered in antiqued silver, showcasing the neoclassical architecture with its prominent stepped podium, colonnade of Ionic columns, triangular pediment bearing a sculptural relief, and the central domed rotunda rising behind. The standing bronze statue of Thomas Jefferson is visible at center between the columns. The legend JEFFERSON MEMORIAL curves along the upper field following the arc of the architectural frieze, while the date 2026 is inscribed vertically along the lower right border of the field.

Aanvullende informatie

The Jefferson Memorial in Washington was completed in 1943, rushed to dedication on the bicentennial of Jefferson's birth despite wartime steel shortages forcing the use of painted wood substitutes for the bronze statue — the permanent bronze replacement wasn't installed until 1947. Cook Islands has issued commemorative silver under licensing arrangements for decades, with the program functioning largely as a revenue mechanism rather than a domestic currency; these pieces are legal tender in name but were never intended for circulation on the island group itself.
