附加信息

The Great Exhibition of 1851 was the first true world's fair, organized largely by Prince Albert and housed in the Crystal Palace — a prefabricated iron-and-glass structure that was itself as radical as anything displayed inside it. Over six million people attended during its five-month run, at a time when Britain's total population was roughly 21 million.

Charles's connection to the exhibition's legacy runs through the Royal Society of Arts, of which he became President in 1974 — the same body Prince Albert chaired when he conceived the event.
