To his left, a dynamic battle scene shows mounted Mongol cavalry archers at full gallop, bows drawn. The mint's crowned EW logo appears above the central composition. The name GENGHIS KHAN is inscribed in a cartouche at the base of the design, and the dates 1157 – 1199 appear in the upper field. The entire scene is framed by an elaborate border of Celtic knotwork and a fine dotted inner ring. |
