The Czech Lion series, produced by the Czech Mint on behalf of Niue, has run continuously since 2018 and occupies an unusual position in the modern bullion market — nominally a Pacific island legal tender issue, practically a Czech product sold overwhelmingly to European collectors. The transition from Elizabeth II to Charles III on the obverse required a new effigy approval cycle through the Royal Mint, briefly disrupting the series' annual release schedule.
