The Australian Wedge-Tailed Eagle series launched in 2014 as Perth Mint's answer to established bullion programs like the Britannia and the American Eagle, targeting the international investment market with a native apex predator rather than a colonial symbol. A decade in, the anniversary issue shifts from the standard one-ounce bullion format to a ten-ounce proof — the weight difference alone signals this is aimed at collectors rather than stackers. Charles III takes the obverse for the first time in this series, Jody Clark's portrait having replaced Maklouf's effigy of Elizabeth II across Australian coinage following her death in September 2022.
