Obverse description Printed in red on a pale ground, the obverse presents an intaglio portrait of Charles Vyner Brooke in three-quarter view at right, with an oval guilloche frame enclosing a central vignette of palm trees alongside the Sarawak coat of arms at left. The bold central panel reads TEN DOLLARS, flanked by ornamental borders, with Jawi script along the upper border and Chinese characters at the foot; the Treasurer of Sarawak's signature appears beneath the date and serial number.
Obverse lettering THE GOVERNMENT OF SARAWAK PROMISES TO PAY THE BEARER ON DEMAND AT KUCHING TEN DOLLARS LOCAL CURRENCY FOR VALUE RECEIVED
Reverse description The reverse is printed entirely in red and centres on a large circular guilloche medallion enclosing a vignette of the Government residential building in Kuching, set within an ornate radiating frame. The inscription THE GOVERNMENT OF SARAWAK arcs around the upper and lower portions of the medallion, while denomination numerals 10 occupy decorative cartouches at either side, with intricate geometric and floral border ornaments filling the corners.
