| Reverse description | The reverse displays a full-colour reproduction of a section of the fresco painted on the interior of Filippo Brunelleschi's dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence, attributed to Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari. The scene depicts a grand heavenly composition with numerous figures including angels, saints, and the glorified Christ in celestial clouds rendered in warm ochre, golden, and polychrome tones. The composition fills the entire trapezoidal surface of the coin, reflecting one of nine segments into which the dome's fresco cycle has been divided for this series. The image is applied in vivid colour printing directly onto the silver surface, faithful to the monumental Renaissance fresco original. |
