Additional information

This piece belongs to a nine-coin architectural series issued by Niue, with each entry nominally tied to a landmark of Western construction history. Brunelleschi's dome over Santa Maria del Fiore in Florence — completed in 1436 after roughly sixteen years of work — was engineered without a supporting armature, a problem Brunelleschi solved using a herringbone brick-laying technique he never fully disclosed to rivals or patrons.

The 111.1-gram weight is a deliberate series convention, not a coincidence of denomination.
