The Board of Commissioners of Currency Singapore was established in 1967 following the dissolution of the Board of Commissioners of Currency, Malaya and British Borneo — itself a consequence of Singapore's separation from Malaysia in 1965. This note belongs to the "Ship Series," the BCCS's final major issue before the Monetary Authority of Singapore assumed currency functions in 2002.

The printer date of 30 April 1945 is almost certainly a catalog or data error — that date falls during the Japanese Occupation of Singapore, years before the BCCS existed. The issued year of 1999 aligns correctly with the Ship Series production timeline.
