| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Belize occupies the central field, depicting a quartered shield bearing crossed tools and a sailing ship, supported by two bare-chested woodcutters standing at either side, with a mahogany tree rising behind the shield. A scroll below the shield bears the national motto SUB UMBRA FLOREO. The entire device is framed by an open laurel wreath. The country name BELIZE is inscribed in large letters along the upper arc, and the denomination 10 DOLLARS appears in the lower field, all within a finely beaded border encircling the rim. The engraver's initials JS appear in the lower field beneath the arms. |
