Reverse description The reverse depicts a dramatic naval scene commemorating the Battle of St. George's Caye, showing HMS Merlin flanked and supported by two Baymen gun flats advancing toward the enemy fleet, all rendered in fine relief within a beaded inner circle. The composition conveys the historic engagement of 1798 in which British settlers and their allies repelled a Spanish invasion. The commemorative legend arcs around the upper and lower borders of the coin outside the central circle, with the anniversary dates flanking the design.
