备注

Goodspeed's Landing was a small Connecticut River village in East Haddam — barely a dot on the map — which made the Bank of New England at Goodspeed's Landing one of the more geographically peculiar issuers in antebellum New England banking. Connecticut's free banking laws of the 1850s permitted exactly this kind of rural charter, and some of these small-town institutions existed primarily to issue notes against bond deposits rather than to service any meaningful local deposit base.

Danforth, Wright & Co. held the plate work, as they did for dozens of Connecticut charters in this period. The long issue window — over a decade — ended with the 1865 federal tax on state bank notes, which effectively killed circulation currency from all such institutions.
