| 裏面の説明 | A polychrome enamelled depiction of the Bahama Parrot (Amazona leucocephala bahamensis), the national bird of the Bahamas, rendered in naturalistic detail perched facing left upon a bare silver branch in the centre of the field. The bird displays its characteristic green plumage with red facial markings and white forehead in vivid colour against the deeply mirrored proof field. The series title FLORA AND FAUNA arcs along the upper legend, the species name BAHAMA PARROT appears in smaller lettering below the central device, and the denomination TEN DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower periphery. |

The Bahaman parrot — more precisely the Cuban amazon subspecies Amazona leucocephala bahamensis — was by 1995 confined almost entirely to the Abaco and Inagua island groups, a collapse driven by habitat loss and the exotic pet trade. This coin was issued under the Bahamas' ongoing wildlife conservation series, which used large-format silver pieces to raise international awareness at a time when the parrot population had fallen to roughly 2,000 individuals on Abaco alone.
At 155 grams, these were struck as display pieces rather than circulating issues, and attrition among surviving examples comes almost entirely from improper storage rather than handling.
