| Obverse description | The national arms of Liberia occupy the central field, depicting a sailing ship at sea beside a palm tree with a rising sun, a dove in flight above, and a plough and spade in the foreground, all within a wreath surmounted by a scroll bearing the legend THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The date 2004 is divided across the lower left and right fields flanking the shield. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, while REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA is repeated on a ribbon within the lower shield.
