The P#111 series was the last conventional paper issue before Fiji's switch to polymer with the 2012-dated notes. Thomas De La Rue had printed Fijian currency continuously since the colonial period, and this note falls within that long unbroken contract — though the relationship would end with the polymer transition, which went to a different supplier.

Two signatures appear: Governor Savenaca Narube and Minister of Finance Mahendra Chaudhry's successor Peter Whiteside. Narube was suspended from the governorship in 2007 following the Frank Bainimarama military government's reorganization of state institutions after the December 2006 coup, which gives the co-signature arrangement on this series an unusually turbulent political backdrop.
